I don't get the whole gas vs diesel wars all the time for towing a boat. I avg 9.5 mpg towing to and from Powell my bro with his diesel avg 13.5 mpg. I spent $100 more in gas than he did. He spends more on gas to fill his tank and gets absolutely no better mpg around town than I do. His truck is badass though.

I will say he didn't get slowed down any by the mountain passes but once again it is a trip we do once a year. At this point it just isn't worth it for me. One day I am sure a diesel will make sense for me. Just not there yet.

I get 17.2 towing at over 800HP. Not towing im around 23 =) Diesel will always tow better.. They just need a little loving to get them there. But whenever people ask me I tell them buy whatever makes you happy!

His is brand new and has all the DPF stuff etc.... Since it is brand new he can't really mess with it because he will lose his warranty.
