Base hourly pay could be like $40-$50 an hour and then you rake in the dough with the overtime, double time and whatever other things they pay you like meals.

Same here. It's fun to do as a hobby though! Nothing better than welding some cool crap together, grind it smooth and throw on some paint and admire the coolness.

Those are valid points Timmy. So it sounds like it is either a fairly miserable job with a low quality of life or vastly overpaid for a normal job. Like I said I don't know much about welding.

I welded all winter at my old job and by spring I didn't want to weld ever again
