no chit. the military is one of the few branches of govt that stick to a budget. i've survived 2 rounds of layoffs in the last 3 years but that doesn't make the news. if we only have a budget for 320,000 people, we cant magic the money out of thin air, so we have to let some people go.

and the aircraft i fly, the KC-135, was built between 1957-1964. the newest one we have is from 1964, and we are supposed to keep flying them for another 30+ years. They will almost be 90 years old when they are retired. we would love to replace them with more 767's or something newer but we just don't have money in the budget for it, so we keep riding in the hooptie.
