Echo is on the north side of the lake - but Henderson isn't a bad drive, prob 45 mins to an hour. Casinos you could look into for rates: Green Valley Ranch Station, Sunset Station, Fiesta Henderson, M, maybe even the hotel at Lake Las Vegas (used to be called Loews). Also have your standard stuff (holiday inn express, etc.) if you don't want a casino.

You could stay up further north in Vegas, too, but not sure how much drive time it would save. The Cannery East, Boulder Station, and Sam's Town are still a little ways south of the road that leads from Vegas to Echo.
