Well, I'm done working on the boat tonight. Turns out my boat has a 21' cable, not the 18' ones one the 07/08 ones in the steering cable thread. Luckily I pulled the old cable out withiut cutting it and found one of the serial numbers near the stern, 21 at the end. So I just put the old cable back in so I'm still drivable for the weekend. My steering requires some force but it's still one hand able for me, two hands for my wife, but much harder than dingleberrys.

So now when my new cable comes I'll be very fast at switching it out, it's really not that bad on this boat.
