May have to chalk this one up to "lesson learned" and don't sell to him anymore and then start stating that all returns have a restocking fee and then you can decide whether or not you want to charge someone that in reality.
At the time of the conversation, the sacs where only laided out in the boat, not installed, fitted or used. It was understood that he would be returning two unused sacs for a complete refund, including duties.

Ate at a KFC over the weekend. First sign that we shouldn't have stopped, one car in the parking lot. Everything was unavailable except for a couple of pieces. Ended up staying but shouldn't have.

Who called on his behalf? Why didn't he call?

Reminds me of the guy that bought the boat last year before he had the CFO's blessing.

It certainly seems as if the guy is trying to get over on you. I like the idea of asking him how they got water in them if they didn't fit. The guy clearly used them for his vacation and then returned them.

Just talking through this...looking at all sides. Is it possible that he hooked up the fitting and there was water in the hose and it drained into the bag or is it clearly visible that it was filled up? You never get the bag folded up the same once it has been filled so it would definitely be obvious. Just making sure you have some stuff to use against said purchaser when he screams at the restocking fee.

Some people...didn't even wipe it off before he sent it back? Kind of shows you the type of character of the person you are dealing with.

Thanks Skippa. Mike, I'd have to agree with Timmy on this one. Chalk it up as a lesson learned, but refuse service to this party in the future. Even though you had the conversation while it was laid out, that conversation probably won't hold water anywhere else (no pun intended). What's though... how hard would it have been for the person to dry it out completely before shipping it back?!? What a punk move!!!

Both sacs had water in them and both had dirt, grass and water stains. The one with the scuff mark looks as if it was fully filled and contacted a screw head under the seat. He clearly made no attempt to fold them back up.

I dont think he is waiting for the new sac either......he also returned the goodies I packed in the box along with the sacs.

In reality, if he doesn't agree to the restocking fee (which he should definitely pay), we will see a thread on here bashing you and how you run your business and then you will fire back and then everyone will jump in and defend you and it would turn ugly quickly. We all know you run a legit business and you are in it to help people out and fill the need that the factory doesn't. What would you say is the total loss of this "claim"? $300 if he didn't pay the fee or is it more (less?) by the time you sell the bags as used? That's a big amount to a small business owner such as yourself. Gently remind him of how little you are making on his purchase and that you want satisfied customers.

On another note, did you measure them? Did Fly High screw up by any chance?
