Need some help
Got a situation and need some input, either post here or you can send PM.
Story: Sold a pair of PnP sacs to a TO to go in his 2012. I got them there in time for his first trip out for the year. He emailed me a couple of pics and then called. He said he was having some problems fitting them in. He stated that the custom sacs where not the same size as the OEM surf sacs coming out and that the ports didnt quite match up. After looking at the pics, I saw that only a slight mod would need to be made for them to fit. One of the top hoses needed to be shortened by about 4". he also stated that he was unable to tie the original tether to the sac anchors, but I couldn't see that in the pic.
My best guess what that his 2012 RZ2 had the larger surf sac that was rumored to be coming in the Z3. he was not wanting to do any mods, so I told him that I would give him a complete refund and would email him a return label (so im eating the return shipping also). I also let him know that I had a new design in the works and would let him know when those are ready. I needed to double check to see if the OEM sac size in the 2012 has indeed changed. In the email with the shipping label, I also offered to reimburse his duties/taxes that where paid when the sac was delivered. The shipping label was immediately created, but it was over week before Someone on his behalf called about returning the sacs.
Sacs arrived on Friday, but I didnt open the box till yesterday. here is what I found: Box was wet inside, sacs were waded up and still had water in them. They where dirty stained. One sac has purple ink that bled from the plastic protective bags the sacs where shipped in and it will not come off. This same one has a deep scuff, not quite a scratch, but clearly a mark in the vinyl material. I can not sell these as new now.
So, I guess they didnt fit good enough to keep, but fit just fine to use for the week vacation and then return for a full refund. What should I do! Shipping each way was just under $60 and his duties where about $107.00.

That sucks big time. Did you let him know that there would be a restocking fee though? Do your invoices say anything about one? If not, I unfortunately don't see how you can charge him one and if you do, you might spend more time fighting with him than its worth. May have to chalk this one up to "lesson learned" and don't sell to him anymore and then start stating that all returns have a restocking fee and then you can decide whether or not you want to charge someone that in reality.
