      It's a Sears Craftsman 32cc model 316.791810.

It starts, has a rough idle, but when I pull the gas trigger it dies out.

Do you get 15% off of everything? I might need you to get stuff for me next time.

Or do I cover your 15%

I've discussed it with my wife and it's not worth the time for me to rebuild the little carb on that thing, what would lance and wakeman22 recommend for a residential homeowner who doesn't like electric trimmers? And I'd like to spend 100 bucks or less.

I would go get a can of aerosol carb cleaner and see if you can't "rattle-can" it. Idling, spritz it into the carb...

Look at the hoses from the tank to the carb; alcohol eats them up pretty quick. Make sure when you pump the primer bulb that it doesn't spray but still pumps firmly.

                  Oh, change the gas too.

30 minutes and 7 bucks to me seems worth trying. If you exceed either, go buy a new one; I have had good luck buying refurbs....
                  It's not an optical illusion.
                  It just looks like one.....

Did you ever find out if I can get plastic skids instead of the metal ones? Would they last longer?

I've done everything but change the gas, my inlaws took the kids out and I'm stuck at home with no car to get fresh gas. At the end of last year I replaced all the fuel lines.

I just read a thread on another site about cleaning the muffler so I'll give that a try.

I even tried seafoam but that didn't help either.

I like Phils advise. Above that most things have become disposable, meaning you would pay more to have it fixed (parts and labor) than a new one.

Mine is a Husqavarna from Lowes and has been used tons and I got it in 2003. I may have paid a bit over $100.

I used to have cotton ones but they only lasted a year or two max.
