Chp, would it work it I use the power off of the ignition for my stereo toggle switch?

I piggy backed power from under the helm but when I run the taps I get a pop in the stereo. So I need to get the power from somewhere else. I wondered if I used the power that goes to the ignition if that would work.

The head-units red turn-on wire very very very rarely induces any noise into the system. You could use that same 12V signal to turn the amps on and should not have any noise. Its not the power source that the head-unit draws off of, its simply a voltage high signal that signals the head-unit on.

Besides that, what else has been changed in regards to the stereo?

I added the toggle switch and added a new battery, replacing the dead one. That was all.

No still just two in the original battery configuration (one house and one cranking). The house battery was not holding a charge. I did replace the group 24 with a group 29.

I was going to try piggy backing from one of the other three terminals and see if the sound goes away.

If its more then one speaker, then its gotta be upstream like at the amp or head-unit. A speaker can only reproduce whats delivered to it. if one speaker was losing the highs, id say is was a bad tweeter or x-over, but all the speakers is a central problem.
