I did that comparison last year just after I got my Jetta. I forgot what the price of gas and diesel were then but it was close to a 50-60 cent difference then. I still think if you drive a lot and your in it for the long haul, diesel is the way to go. I got my car used off the lot because I got hit and the insurance company totaled my car and I needed something descent and quick.
