No flags where I grew up boating. Out here in CO I'm not sure they do much good. People are either going to pay attention or they aren't. We have had plenty of close calls even with a flag.

There are a bunch of idiots on the water, the flag does nothing. You have to yell and other things to get peoples attention. Those that need it probably have no clue what it means.
