If it is cold it is going to be tough to work in the garage. And I still need to crawl back under the car.

I'm thinking of putting my stock port side tank back in. And strapping the batteries onto it.
I have been thinking the same thing. Those tans are tough. They should handle the weight. Not much to hold down the batteries with. Maybe attach plywood to the top of the tank with a good flexible adhesive and run some good batt tie down straps through the wood before gluing it down.

theres only about an 1/8th of an inch of clearance so i was going to put a peice of rubber between and strap the batteries together horizontaly and use my new engine panels to hold them from sliding side to side and back and forth

and theres room behind the terminals to hide all the wires, i was just concerned with the strength of the tank

Lance I think that is a fantastic idea. If had a hard tank I think that is what I would do. My thought for securing them would be use a real thin piece of plywood. Cut it 3/4" wider than the tank all around. Then glue and attach 1x2" wood around the bottom edge and cut out space for the hose fittings. This would stay in position on top of the tank. Then on the top attach 1x2" wood to hold the batteries from sliding around. What do you guys thinks?
