Tents is hard core this time of year. However when I was a scout we did the same.

Two winter camps ago we were at below 0 and I froze. I had a summer tent (all vent with a fly that just barely covers the vents) and a sleeping bag that I did not fit in. I changed that right after that camp and it hasn't been bad since. I even have a heater but didn't even need it.

I have said that when I was a scout none of the scouting things bothered me (weather, hard ground, etc..) Now I prefer my bed.

But you are still on snow. Even with a pad. When I came hunting up there one year my buddy only brought a cheap spring bag. I told him it was not going to work. I was woke up that night to the chatter of his teeth. Thank god we had plenty of horse blankets.
