              When I was snow boarding my right thigh, leg that was back, was burning. Since we left boarding it hasn't bothered me at all.

                You will need to remove the CV JOINT and then the axle seal.You can usually use a socket that fits the outer edge of the seal to install it.I recommend Harbor Freight for the socket.

                    I feel your pain on the car Skippa, hopefully it's not too bad. I took my son's '98 Mazda in to get it inspected last week and the transmission is not shifting right. They tell me it needs to be rebuilt, but I'm not sure it's worth throwing money into it. He won't be home until October, so I have some time to decide.
