How in the hell do you make sure to get all the damn ATF out of the tranny when changing the fluid? I was sucking it out of the dipstick hole, moving the tube in, out, up, down, side to side, every way I could get it to move. I tried sucking that fluid out for a good 20 minutes. I was surprised how little I got out - but I had been pumping it everywhere I could get the tube to move until it sucked air. Finally, I gave up, deciding that I must have gotten it all and that it must have been very low.

So I added ATF (supposed to take 2 quarts). After one quart went in, it was full to the top of the dipstick hole. Dammit. Fired up the engine, checked again and yup - way overfull.

So I have since sucked it out again (got a whole lot more this time). But I am stumped as to how you know if you are getting it all. Any tips?
IDK which tranny you have but some have a drain on the bottom, tough to get to.

Ding if your dipstick is towards the front of the boat you need to tilt the boat down on the nose.I do mine on the trailer for that reason.I think you were probably doing it on your lift or in the water. You want the boat level to recheck it.It's always best to recheck it after a run up to temp and in the water.

Thanks - it's on the trailer right now while I work on it. PCM states that all fluid levels are to be checked while the boat is floating level in the water, so I'll recheck everything when we put her back into the slip. And the tranny fluid must be checked while the engine is running.
