My wife and kids are impatient and I was thinking if I had a hose with two ball valve shutoffs I could help transfer some of the bags without the hassle of installing pumps. Of course I have not installed any ballast equipment ever, so I have no idea if I'm doing almost as much work as installing transfer pumps. Big ballast systems have been around for a while too, and as I was piecing together info to plan this project, I was wondering why other ballast systems don't have any tranfer mechanism. I guess the reason was there was not a huge need to shave a few minutes off a drain/fill time.

Don't get me wrong Ewok I think having a crossover is an excellent idea. I personally wanted a fast system because we switch quite a bit but the 10 minute switch over has not been a huge deal for me. As soon as the rider falls I hit the drain and fill pumps and by the time the rider gets in the boat dried off and the next rider gets life jacket on, board ready, pee's, the bags are almost full.

Biggest mistake I made was not running vents and drains to the opposite side but I will fix that soon.

I'm not sure how much time will be saved with just a crossover line but if it's not hard to add I think it's worth a try. Then I'll run the system with and without the crossover and let everyone else know if its worth the time and energy.
