What phone do you have? Droid? iPhone? Carrier? Droid has the Car Panel that makes things a little easier.

I have the EVO. It has the car panel. One thing that I really liked about the Garmin was if I was in an area that I did not know I could go quick short cuts, i.e. food, lodging, shopping
and find the things real quick. So instead of looking for a McDonalds, which may not be close, it would bring up all the fast food that was in that area with the closest first or I could type in McDonalds. Is there a way to do that with car panel?

I will give the car panel a try and see how I like it.

I will give the car panel a try and see how I like it.

I have the TomTom app on my iPhone. It takes up about 1.5G of space on the phone but all the maps are stored on it, no need to have internet access to get directions or see where I am. It also does the Points of Interest features just like a regular TomTom, and gives you all the restaurants near you in order of closest out. I also have the TomTom car cradle which is not cheap, about 100 bucks, but it had a bigger GPS antenna in it so it gets a better position faster if you are out of cell tower range. It also supplies power and recharges the iPhone and has an Aux Out to plug into the car stereo system. It also has a built in microphone and acts like a nice hands free system if your car doesn't have a bluetooth handsfree system.

Went down to Carlsbad, CA for a bit, then up to Anaheim. Caught the Angels/Yankees games on Sat and Sun. One of our boys is an Angels fan, and the other is a Yankees fan. They were both decked out in "authentic replica" (nice oxymoron) jerseys and hats. Twins rooting for opposite sides. Everyone around us got a kick out of that.

Overall, a pretty good weekend.

Playing a New York team on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 meant there was a fair amount of pre-game ceremony. Flag presented by military, police, and fire.




After the game, the kids were allowed to run the bases.
