Takes excellent video in high resolution. As simple as it gets and you can get a ton of accessories for it.

This is for my wife... Family movies, no action sports stuff...

I want a simple thing that you push RECORD on and then nothing else. Hit it again to stop....

Dad always ibsisted on getting his video recorder out and it irritatede the hell out of me. Ia m fine with still pics, but I gotta please the wife...

Those big clunky things make me want to grow my mullet and ask my wife to wear my highschool ring on a chain around her neck.... No CHP, I think not.

We had a video camera that was that big, plus you had to wear half of the vcr in a bag over your shoulder to record the tape. The one in the pic was a cool upgrade. How far we have come in a short period of time.

2wd's have higher towing capacity in most cases and they do get a few more mpg's. I had a 1994 2wd S10 Blazer and got 18/19 city and about 24/25 hwy and my 4x4 version with the same engine was lucky to get 19 hwy. That's like 31% better economy, pretty significant! I don't know about today's trucks though.

Phil, Ragboy has used a bunch of different vid cameras. I know before GoPros I would see Flip and Kodak playsports, which I think both were really simple.

For just family video, not sports related a buddy of mine bought a Toshiba for like $199. Does HD and he's even had it out on the boat. In fact, that video of me doing my Surf 3 was taken on that Toshiba. It's a real simple one too.

A question. If you wanted to buy a SIMPLE HD camcorder, what would you buy? Why?

I use an Aiptek 720p. It's simple and cheap. They also have 1080 versions that you could probably pick up for around $100.00 on Amazon. I bought ours at Target.
