I was amazed at how much better my system sounded with just the ZXMRLC! It's either that or the replacement of the 8ga power wire that Tige used for the 700.5 with 0 gauge. My gains are in the same spot they have always been (about 10 o'clock) and I can turn the Clarion head unit up to 29/30 now and the ZXM knob maxed with no distortion and the stereo is waaaay louder than it has ever been.

The ZXMRLC is one of the next things that I would like. It is going to have to wait unless I find a killer deal. I figured it would just be better being able to control the tower and cabin separately.

Both helped. The 700.5 NEEDS to be on 4 ga... NOt usre how you got a boat without the proper power wire but they install it right usually at the factory. With the proper wire, there is no voltage sag, and the amp can really sing. With the smaller wire, you had less power for sure.

Wire aside, teh ZXM-RLC is a bad-azz preamp/line driver and I too think it helps. I can;t explain it within the laws of physics, but it just seems to give mroe life and headroom to a stock system... There is no logical explanation but hey, it works....

Set the gains to about 10 o'clock even the sub and tested it outside. I think it sounds better. Later today the water test.

No, I just wound up using my prototype for now. I will revisit this winter - too many other things going on.

Phil, I don't know how I got 8ga, it was a factory install stereo too. I never really paid attention before I pulled it out but then after I was like .
