I know, and I know better too... Take a good whiff though is a good idea and just guessing, but I'm sure you'd get a good odor if it's at the level needed to blow up. Although I don't want to be the one to test that out either!

The nose can sense vapor at a level much lower than that required to ignite. All you need to do is get your nose to the bottom of the bilge
