My Dad has used a LLC in Montana when he buys vehicles or RVs due to no sales tax but makes the purchases local just tells the dealer he is registering it with his LLC

A year or so ago here the new had a big story on people in CO doing the same thing. I want to say the were offering rewards for people to turn others in. They did that in UT for people that registered in ID.

I think it was the City Manager in Boulder City that did the tax dodge thing. She and her husband setup an LLC in Montana, bought a Nissan GT-R and registered it in MT. After a while, folks started asking why the hell the City Manager drove a car with MT plates. She said that it was for their MT business. But she could not even answer any reporters questions about what that business does.

So, Boulder City was having to lay off employees like many municipalities due to shrinking tax revenue, at the same time the City Manager is publically dodging taxes. The state finally weighed in on the matter and stated that it doesn't matter if they even have a legitimate business in MT, because the vehicle is used the majority of the time in NV, therefore NV registration is required.

She finally caved and registered it here.

Whats old is new again, a friend of mine runs 1980 Sanger and this old American Skier, I thought it was funny on the American Skier when I saw these compartments on the back transom with drains since this is sometimes called new innovation on current model boats.
