That "horn sound" you typically hear about in some coaxial designs is often due to the fact that you have a straight section of tube in the horn. This is necessary to get the sound from the horn driver, mounted on the back of the midrange driver out to the front of the speaker. The KM6500.2 takes the horn and removes it from the midrange allowing the use of a different horn geometry, a TRACTRIX horn geometry. Tractrix horns are the closest at re-creating a spherical wavefront; the way sound radiates through air naturally. Put simply, there are no places along the horn's length where area is constant, so no standing wave resonances can form.
The other features of the KM6500.2 include sealed midrange cones, (ho norn going through them) for greater cone area, full hi-pass / low-pass crossovers for smoother flat frequency response and a flat impedance curve, and neodymium mid driver motors for super efficiency. Take that and add a power handling of 200 watts RMS per side and know you really have a small pro PA speaker system disguised as a wake tower setup.
PhilIt's not an optical illusion.
It just looks like one.....
