            So Sunday really sucked...

We were heading home from lunch to change clothes to go to the lake. Then a scene so creepy real, I still cant get it out of my head. Like a scene from the original Vacation movie, here comes a truck, with a leash tied to the hitch ball, only this time there was still dog attached.

My wife pleased me to turn around so I did, nailed he accelerator, rolling up to 90 or so in a 35 to catch the guy. There were big blood splatters every three feet or so where the dog bounced. We finally got caught up to the guy and pulled him over. The dog stopped on it side, and its eyes were closed, but suddenly he opened his eyes. For Sondra it was on... She scopped the dog up, told the guy" we are going to the vet" and she put the dog in the back or the truck and we took off.

When we got to the vet the dog was conscious, and she carried him in, yellling all the way for help. the dog actually stood up, but he was in bad shape. We got him vack to the exam room, where the doctor shared that his feet were burned smooth off to the bone, with lots of road rash and other damage to the rest of his hide. The poor dug just looked up at us, we held him, he let us hold him... It was like he knew we were really trying to help. Doc said if we could get him through 24 hours he might survive, but it would be months of healing and rehab, possibly surgeries to do skin grafts and such. Lots of pain, for months...

While it was someone elses dog, and not even the other guys, (he claimed the neightbor kids must have left the leash on his bumper) were were just sick. We decided it was best to have him put down. They were so nice... We didn't stay, but I called later. They told me that the staff was there to hold him and pet him while they did anesthesia. They put him gently to sleep first. I can still see him looking up at me with those sweet eyes.

He is in a better place, but I am crying just writing this. Poor little guy. I wish somehow we could have saved him without him having to go through all the pain associated.

Holy crap Phil! That's a terrible story!

a few weeks ago my brother was helping me do some work at my place and he had a little yorkie that followed him everywhere. He was riding in the bucket of my tractor and the dog jumped out. I couldn't see it and I ran it over with my tractor. I still feel sick today for that, I know how you feel...
                        Waiting for another good one!

OMG Phil! I can't even imagine being faced with that! My wife and I would do the same thing without even batting an eye. I am so glad that you guys saw this before that poor dog suffered any more. Great job reacting as quickly as you could, only wish you had seen it sooner.
