A good buddy of mine that I hired and trained back in 2000, feels happy that he is turning about 35-40 hours a week. back in 2000-2002 when we worked together, he was consistently turning 65 hrs a week.

Im so glad im no longer turning wrenches, but no matter, the economy is still no great around here for most everyone.

Most of the dealership mechanics are turning 30 - 35 hours and the independent shops are turning 40 - 45 hours.That is about 2/3 of what they were doing 3 years ago.

My neighbor has had his hours cut back too.HE is in HVAC/PLUMBING trade and says they are slow too.

My brother has a appliance repair business and is at about 2/3 of what he used to do.

Even worse, he works for GM, so they move him where they need him based on his training. He travels about 45 minutes one way right now.

I HAD 2 GM dealers,they closed the chevy dealer and stopped making pontiac.But they got BUICK.
