DENVER - Police say a passenger refused to follow a flight crew's instructions as a plane was preparing to depart DIA Friday. Police say the captain determined the man, 31-year-old Thaddeus Rule, was a safety risk and returned the plane to the gate.
When the man refused to deplane, police officers were called to the gate. Police say Rule then attempted to fight off officers, pushing one of them down the stairs at the top of the plane. He also threw punches at another officer.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with injuries, but there is no word on his condition as the incident is under investigation. The police officers involved were also taken to the hospital, but there is no information on the extent of their injuries.
The SkyWest plane, headed to Casper, Wyo., was delayed for two hours. Sky West says Rule refused to verbally accept the exit row responsibilities, and refused to get off his cell phone.
