                            It also depends on what the damage is and how they feel the vehicle will drive after the repair, the last thing that they want is the customer to get the car back and then spend a whole bunch of time chasing down things.

                                Not really. There is a price to fix anything that is fixable. If its fixable, but if it will exceed X% of the value it totaled. If it un-fixable, its un-fixable, which is rare. I once did a body lift/frame swap on a 3 year old K1500 GMC. Frame was trashed but body was fixable.
