And it is not the silly people of Las Vegas who are draining Mead. It is the farmers in the deserts of Southern California who irrigate with huge amounts of water, and the Army Corps who manages it. Vegas only uses something small like 2% of the Colorado River flow.
OK, YOU are not silly . The only stat for the Amistad I know off the top of my head is that the National Park Service area of the "Lake" is over 850 miles of shoreline. But that does not include the 35 mile drive up the Rio Grande to Panther Cave and the Pecos River split. Nor does it include the 15 mile ride up the Devils River to some great fishing spots and some great summertime sandbar action

Thanks for excluding me. But I will agree that, generally, the people of Las Vegas are silly.

I would love to visit Amistad sometime. Probably want to keep away from the Mexican side, though.

Surface area of Lake Amistad = 101.4 sq miles
Surface area of Lake Mead = 247 sq miles

I'm sorry, Mead is more than twice the size of Amistad

We will have the occasional drug smuggler wash up on the shore (usually drowned with a backpack full of weed or coke) but we have not had any of the violence from (yes) further down south, mostly south of Laredo. I think of it as the gentleman's agreement that the mob has, they usually don't kill each other in the neighborhoods they live in, only on the turf they are fighting over. Down the road from me is a guy with a helicopter pad, there is no industry to support that much money in this town except you know what. And most of my neighbors are border patrol or Air Force.

WTF kind of "improper handling" did that WS sub have? Those don't look like a minor little scratch or two on the magnet.
