Ask my dad about comfort on the B-52. He sat in the basement, and it was really cold, especially under his seat. They had a standing rule on board, that whoever was the first crewman to dirty the toilet had the clean it out afterward. So, to keep from having to clean the john, everyone would go into a plastic bag and then toss it under his seat. At the end of the flight, they would just throw away the bags of frozen waste, and no one would have to clean the head.
