I like doms resposes too, he "might" be able to get legal copies of the manuals when his engine is out of warranty but its going to be hard. who knows, he might be changing the company policy for PCM. I'm sure they are talking about it in the office.

I know PCM probably wants to protect their training program and certified technician program too, so they can squeeze out some more money from shadetree mechanics.

WA's argument about trying to give PCM his money is not valid either. They do not advertise on the web site that they have manuals for sale. All they have is a VERY poor answering machine system that ticked him off in the first place.

I personally think he's full of chit when he told me he got a manual for his Dodge diesel motor direct from Cummins...

I take that back. He said he got it from a usergroup, not Cummins or Dodge... but dodge makes it available.

It's all a moot point because his bishing is gonna steer anyone that CAN help him, so far away they'll need a service manual on how to replace their steering rack...

PCM knows their certified service techs will get more of his money in certified repairs which keeps the cycle turning. PCM makes engine, PCM sells engine with warranty, PCM trains mechanics to do service for warranty repair, mechanics pay PCM for the training program + books + special tools as required, customers pay trained mechanics to work on engine after warranty is up, customer likes engine and mechanics and eventually buys new engine, and the cycle continues. The cycle is interrupted if WA gets his books and does not see a mechanic, the mechanics do not get paid by customers, the mechanics stop going to training sessions, that stream of revenue dries up, PCM engines gets a bad reputation for poor service or reliability or some other symptom of untrained mechanics working on engines, PCM does not sell as many new engines, PCM goes out of business.
