So you just kept it as a spare, not really something you carried on the water with you. Good to know. You all are helping me make a list of parts I need
      Waiting for another good one!

Most belt squeaks can be traced back to what is called belt "pile", which is nothing more then a small piece of belt rubber stuck in the grove of the belt. Every time that section of belt contacts as pulley as the belt rotates, you get that chirp.

With the engine idling, take a wire brush and carefully and gently scrub the groves of the belt. Just ease the brush up to the grove side of the belt and let it run across the bristles. This will knock out those pieces of old belt rubber. Next, take the brush and clean the pulley grooves. Now, shut the engine off, take a finger tip dab of 100% silicone past and smear it across the groves of the belt. Just do this in spot because as you start up the engine, the past will get spread around.
Chp to the rescue! I never had a squeaky belt on my boat, but had a pully out off alignment when I first got the Tige. I would open hood and have rubber dust everywhere!

I kept mine in my boat. First time you blow one out and ruin a whole day of fun you will keep it in your boat.

that being said if you replace it every year you really shouldn't have an issue. It's the long winter storage that wears them out.

I did keep a new one with me as part of a parts kit, but changed it out in the spring.

i would think anytype of stiff bristle brush on the belt would be just find.

Just made a thread in the ballast section.

And no idea on before weight/prop I just got the boat... and put the 911 on from day one ( pulled it off my 21i ) The boat came with a 525 and I stuck that on the 21i before it left

O BTW five on our boats water comes in the back easy and gets on the belts/pulleys Last trip out one of my PULLEYS started to squeak. I believe it has 2 a tensioner one and a Idler ( well besides the rest of the drive components)

yea, I'm learning this, particularly since I added weight back there. I noticed that when my son would climb in after wakeboarding, a lot of water would drip down between the panels...
