Last one i bought was $35 and you can not change it on the water unless you have a shut off valve on the raw water intake.

sure you can, just plug it or hold the hose above the water line... least that's what I did when mine went out once.

Petty much. If the belt looks to be in good shape, i.e. not dry rot and cracking or shredding, here is a trick to stop a squeaky belt.

Most belt squeaks can be traced back to what is called belt "pile", which is nothing more then a small piece of belt rubber stuck in the grove of the belt. Every time that section of belt contacts as pulley as the belt rotates, you get that chirp.

With the engine idling, take a wire brush and carefully and gently scrub the groves of the belt. Just ease the brush up to the grove side of the belt and let it run across the bristles. This will knock out those pieces of old belt rubber. Next, take the brush and clean the pulley grooves. Now, shut the engine off, take a finger tip dab of 100% silicone past and smear it across the groves of the belt. Just do this in spot because as you start up the engine, the past will get spread around.

You are right...I just wish they all had a shut off since I thought we were going to sink when our pump housing cracked. On a v-drive you will also be standing on your head.

Well after that blue sparky, I thought I wanted more power so I bought a gas one, and ripped the tiny little stock motor out and put a 32HP Honda V-twin in it... LOL

                  Waiting for another good one!

Not sure what mine charges for just the impeller but they want about $250 to swap it out. I need to set up shop next door and charge $150

Hrm, I'd be a bit nervous about putting a wire brush in there while it's running. I'll take a look at how to do that and think about it. Thanks for that tip!!!
