    I feel your pain...

I'm planning on at least one pair of KS680's, maybe two.

I did find Kicker makes a 6x8 component system too. DS6802.2 I need to see what Phil's feedback is on those.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

They will sould better than the KS502 with more mid-bass on the low end, due to the larger cone. The tweeter can be mounted on a pole mounted to the motor like a typical coax. That would prevent the need for a different adaptor bracket
      It's not an optical illusion.

Tweeter, mounted to the pole, mounted to the motor? You lost me. Can't the tweeter be mounted to any flat surface?

Or do I need to mount a pole to my truck first? (To the motor of course.)

Sorry, the motor of the SPEAKER.... The tweeter can be mounted separately like components are often mounted, but you can use the tweeter on a pole that allows it to mount coaxially in the midrange speaker..

As long as I can mount the 6x8 (Motor) in the original speaker location, and put the tweeter in a different location.

The pole you refer to, would just move the tweeter straight out from the 6x8 your saying.

yup. It would look like a coax speaker and mount like one, but would have the better crossover...
