That and the fact that this was the first EVER rudder failure without impacting something.

And if his story happened the way he says it did, he is a dumbazz for not letting it sink and buy a brand new boat.

Even if you did hit a curb and cause damage I say launch that shizzle.....tell your insurance there was a log or something you hit and come get it off the bottom.
