and now the debate begins....

Understand Iam not advocating a slow steady application of pressure, I am advocating a sudden center-of gravity shift. Picture a boat full of water, barely almost balanced, with jsut a tiny amount of bias to the trailer tongue, keeping the whole rig steady. Now jump up on the swim platform.... All that water in thh boat heaves to the back, the boat starts tipping, and rapidly accelerates. The rudder hits the ground with good speed, AND the increasing force of everything behind the trailer axles, and more weight is being piled on by the water now running from the front of the boat.


I can SO see it....

I have too seen it. At a tournement last year we had a steady down pour, it filled the lake up quite a bit, along with a 1979 Mastercraft stars and stripes. The cover was on and the plugs were in. I watched it tip over. There was no damage and the trailer did not have a prop gaurd.

He could have done it, then gone to the river to run anyway. He might have busted the hull literally hooking on to go to the river. I am not saying he didn't go to the water, only that the damage did not happen in the water.

Also, he mentions steering going farther than normal. Aren't the stops in the steering system provided by the cable and/or the rack in the steering hub, and NOT the rudder itself? I think the mention of feeling it turn farther than normal is not valid.
