The temporary bar top is 5/4 decking, but I have some 12" cedar planks drying in my hot shop. In a week or two, I will mill them for either half-lap or tongue-in-groove and install them, then coat them with 3 or 4 coats of Cetol.It's not an optical illusion.

I will install the new cedar, then roun a router around the edge so it is tight and conforms to the sub-foundation. Then an edge-cap will go all around to hide the 2x6 pressure treated sub-frame. I have some red rope light that I will mount up under the bar; I had the rope just tacked in under there Sunday night and it looks sweet...It's not an optical illusion.

Here is a rough shot of it at night. All the lighting is mini-16 polished aluminum par cans with MR-11 sealed halogen bulbs. The lights over the bar, and up in the roof can be turned off with a switch, leaving only the downlights in the rail on...It's not an optical illusion.

That last pic is looking south into the covered deck area from an adjacent spot. The bar stool in the image is on a lower deck, roughly 16x16 and then there is a step up to another 16x16 square, also under the cover.It's not an optical illusion.
