Why taking the maples down?

I haven't made a final decision, but they are getting too big and not giving my small front yard a lot of sun....the main thing is the roots are so bad on the surface.

Call a tree service. It will be pricey, but when they are close to my house, I don't mess with them...I'm good with a chain saw but not that good...
