alright, so after about 1 hour of use, a huge rattle developed right behind my head in the joint of the tower. It sounded like it was about to break in half

evidently, there is a piece or rubber or foam that sits on top of the base for the tower and acts as a pad for the bulk of the tower when it is upright. This thing had slid off to the side, inside the base and both halves of the tower were scraping against each other, metal on metal. I was about to freak out because the sound was horrifying, especially for the first major day out on the boat.

We folded the tower half way down, saw where the rubbing was, found the piece that had slid, and just placed it where it needed to be and used the just the weight of the tower to keep it in place. Thankfully, this was a decent temporary fix since the water calmed down right after that and there was little side to side forces placed on the tower.

However, a fix is needed, because as soon as there is a rider tugging on the pylon from the side, there will be enough lateral forces to cause that little piece to work its way out again. What I need is a good adhesive to put that thing back in its place so taht it won't come off again.

Nice, good thing it was minor instead of welds breaking an such

                  Dingle,

I still nearly laugh out loud when I'm reminded of that post and pic.

Yeah, I haven't heard any such complaints about the Alpha Z yet. I was concerned at first because I did hear about issues with metcraft (right name?) towers when Malibu started using them before all the kinks were worked out. Evidently the kinks were all worked out before Tige got them.

I was reading a thread on here that the 01 metcraft towers were prone to break at the h bar, but since the redesign they have been good, or so I hear

I didn't know they had been around that long. Were they one solid piece like they have been for the last five years at least?

No they were three pieces and the top part called the H-bar would snap off at the joints, search forthe thread on here called 2001 metcraft tower snaps
