I will put my soapbox away now, for now....
Wow! Medical insurance is a near monopoly right now. A small number of large companies use their concentrated power to control premium levels, benefit packages, and provider payments in the markets they dominate. As a result, health insurance premiums have skyrocketed, going up more than 87% (on average) over the past 5 to 6 years.

Homeowners Insurance "is" a monopoly in Florida with investment bankers (i.e. hedge funds) have controlling interest.

Therefore, "text book idealism with regard to capitalism" sounds right on paper but is a farce in actuality. Our current medical insurance situation is not altruistic, it is not capitalism, it is not socialism, and it surely is NOT insurance.....it is investment bankers having their way without recourse.

Let's bring the insurance industry back to it's origins.

I'm sure I'll have some time in there to do some posting. Especially if I'm in some classes that are less than engaging...

At one time he smoked...the other sad part of the story was his wife's mother had died just two days before and she had left home for her funeral. When she got the call about her husband she got a flight back and had to miss her mothers visitation & funeral.

Same here. I provide (at no cost to the employee) very, very good health insurance...for the employee and his/her family.

That's terrible! I feel for her. I can't imagine losing mother and husband within a few days of one another...and having to my my mom's funeral. What a downer....
