Actually, I'm pretty sure the tab is to release the brakes if the safety cable is pulled.
Doesn't the safety cable just engage the brakes? I thought the tab releases brake system pressure, so, yes, it would also be used if your safety cable gets pulled.
You know, I don't know if you are joking or not. But I actually do like the idea of separate bags like that. Soda in one for the kids. Beer in two of them for me and one more for my wife's drinks. Or she can share the kid's.
I was only partially joking. It really isn't too bad an idea.

I'm not sure how the safety cable applies the brakes but we once pulled the cable by hand to engage them, and nothing happened. I'm assuming we didn't pull it far enough. But in order to retract the cable we had to push the button on the bottom.
