Once you get any ballast at all for surfing, the bigger wave doesn't make you a better rider...at least it didn't make me one. LOL! Everyone is always so concerned about how big there wave is...just go out and surf!

How much weight do you have in there?

If I recall, there was an 1100lbs sac in the locker. A 400lbs sac on the seat that guy is up on and I had a 400lbs sac in the hallway.

It doesn't MAKE you a better rider. But it sure enables you to do better tricks.

I know it's a short wave, I needed maybe one more person up in the bow, but this is my cousin and he's 6'0 tall...

Ok I'm going with a 1200# in the rear and 400# in the bow,

I learned how to free ride with 0 ballast, just my buddy sitting in the corner. Then we progressed to 2 5 gallon buckets filled with water and then v-drive sacs and then stacking 2 of them in the corner and then finally a surf sac.
