When I went out last Saturday when we used the taps I would get a pop in the speakers. I have to figure out where it came from. I have already eliminated some things.
              POP sound from TAPS.

That is hydraulic, right? The EMF from the solenoid field coil energizing and collapsing is the culprit. The fix is a pair of non-polar electrolytic capacitors, (AKA Bass Blockers, available at many car stereo shops) installed on the TAPS control wiring up near the TAPS switch. If they follow ABYC convention, these wires will be white with green stripe and white with blue stripe. Connect the capacitors to each of these wires with one lead, and conect the other lead of the capacitor to ground. Voila, no more popping.

That or turn your gains back down. When did you turn them up?

Thanks Phil. I had seen this and was trying to find the culprit since it seems to have just started. I actually turned the gains down from where I bought the boat last fall. I turned them down all the way last night to see if that did anything.

What is the best way to connect the capacitor to the wires?

I think my taps is electrical, but could be wrong. Does that change anything?
