What I might be able to do is get a shop to build the new one and have it all ready. Then I could drop the boat off at the lake, maybe my wife, kids, buddy and his family then I can run get it done.
That's what I would do, take it to the shop, have them measure and fab up the replacement, drop the boat off at the lake for the day and the shop can cut and weld the new piece pretty quick. After I gave up my wet slip I rented one for a day to get some work done on my trailer, that might be an option too.

After seeing skippa's problem it made me remember my trailer and what we discussed. When you did your brackets how did you paint it to match the rest of the trailer?
My trailer is black so they painted the brackets with glossy black rustoleum. That was the job I had to rent a wet slip for a night.
