That sucks...... I work in IT and I am always fighting for things like this. They did this where I work a year and a half ago. I tried to explain to the owners, who are Turkish, and to management that happy employees work better and typically are more efficient. I then told them that our employees would replace what was taken away with smartphones or use with mifi type devices. I was right.

The owners feel like they aren't getting there money's worth out of us unless we are working. I fought back and explained that I had 500+ hours of overtime last year on the book, and probably another 200+ of times that I didn't account for on my time sheet. I even wrote a report across the whole company that showed on average every single one of the employees had at least 330+ hours of overtime.

even though I am in IT I think these things are BUNK, but I am a non conformist. This is why my director LOVES me, but at the sametime I am a HUGE pain in his a$$.

Sorry for the rant.... I understand blocking somethings, but MUSIC..... come one. I always like the excuse it takes up bandwidth..... MY A$$ I have the stats at work, and out of 2700 employees at our headquarters location the music sites it were taking up 8% of our network utilization. That's NOOOOOTHING in the grand scheme of things.
