I am about to finish up the wiring for the amps, and before I finish up I need to know this. If the engine timer ticks away, then I am going to hook up the stereo up to my ACC switch that pulls a small current from the ignition switch. This way I can turn the stereo on while we are sitting, and the timer doesn't accrue hours. Make sense?

The real engine hour meter in the ECM only accrues time when there is ignition (RPM) input. So you are ok with the Head-unit coming on with key in the ACC position. BUT, I would pull the Head-unit red turn-on wire off the switch and put it on a switch. If you have a Carling toggle, I have some labeled actuators with a music symbol on them just for stereos.
