I run windows parallels and my excel files on the mac side open in excel and on the windows side they open in numbers with no option to switch the default program to excel. Also when opening a pdf on the windows side it will open adobe on the Mac side.

On the windows side, can you right click on the file, and select "Open with..", then select the application you want it to be opened with? Also, what happens when you open a blank excel document, and then browse to that specific excel document?

What's the version of Parallels you are running, is it the latest?

I can right click but my options are numbers and adobe acrobat. I don't understand why excel is not an option?
