He's riding 55' at 22.5 I think I might try the 5' extension today and put him out to 60'. I talked to him about it last night and he was okay with trying it...

I can take the extension off and finish today's practice at 55 if I have to.

He's 9 years old. He is in the flats sometimes but I have a really wide wake up close on my boat too.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It would give him more hang time to really show some more style for those C.A.T. pts.

My son was 13, but he went from Jr. Novice in 2007 to Expert in 2008. He rode 65' for a long time, now he rides just over 80 at 24 mph.

Struggling with the decision to lengthen my son's rope 5ft or not. His Regional competition is in 4 weeks and I'd like him out a bit longer so he can nail his tricks with a bit more style...

I don't want to throw him way off by introducing 5' either...

As long as it goes from the boat to the rider , no, there isn't a standard. Most adults ride between 60-75 ft, with a few crazies like RT riding longer than that.
