Installed on-board batt charger yesterday, just a single bank 5 amp smart charger to help keep things topped off. Unfortunately, I seem to have left the courtesy lights on a couple weeks ago when I was getting some things out of the boat. Accessory batt was completely dead. Charger wouldn't start to charge it - kept giving an error message that battery was "defective or discharged". So I figured I would need to borrow a more substantial charger to handle a fully discharged battery.
In the meantime, I fired up the boat on fake-a-lake just to make sure everything was running well. Starting batt was still charged (at least the EIDB system did its job and kept the starting batt full). After running the boat about 5-10 mins, I shut it down. Just out of curiosity, I tried the charger again. I guess the alternator gave it just enough of a charge that the charger didn't see it as completely discharged, and the charger started charging it. Still charging away this morning.
