While I agree that it could prevent someone from draining their batt...I figure that a batt charger is better. Not only does it prevent having a dead batt when you go to use the boat, it also will recharge a heavily depleted batt (like if you had been blasting music all day), and it will maintain your batts better. Just my thoughts...

I have two batteries and my perko is setup where in position 2 it runs the stereo and doesn't touch the motor battery. In position 1 is only motor battery and of course the ALL position when the motor is running to charge both...
OFF position removes power from both batteries... I only have one Perko and it works perfectly.
