I've got another freightliner with a ISL cummins and a f250 with a 6.0 powerstroke.I like diesels.

I also have a 6.0. I know they have their issues but I love mine.

Cummings is ok but the new emmisions wasnt perfected before it went to market

MY ISB IS A 2001 AND THE ISL IS A 2006.JUST SNUCK IN THEY CHANGED THEM IN 07 AND UP.NOW YOU HAVE THAT ADDITIVE YOU ADD TO CLEAN YOUR EXHAUST.

Mine is an 03. It is my understanding that much of the problem comes from casting sand, and sillacate fallout in the coolant which cloggs the egr cooler causing it to rupture. I have added a coolant filter and replaced the Ford coolant which contains sillacate. Now run CAT ELC coolant.

THE coolers were thin and ruptured easily.The aftermarket has plenty of upgrades for that problem to make them bullet proof.

You wouldn't believe the sand I flushed out when I changed the coolant.

I've got 5 Cummings with DPF. Absolutely horrible up here. Engines just cant run hot enough in the winter monthes to burn un spent fuel. Winter fronts & belly tarps just dont help
