I don't think WA and majestic are going to get along at the PNW reunion. Am I wrong or do I remember guys here complaining about tanks filling underway with pumps OFF with the scooper intake? And my factory install is well clear of the transducer and other running gear. And I do not have any self priming issues. That thread will die quickly when he checks out my boat and factory install.

If you use a scoop intake with aerator pumps, they will fill on their own. If you use the jabsco pumps it's not a problem. He is just overthinking stuff as usual. From having actually installed a ballast system, I just offer advice on how I would do it differently.

And the jabsco is the one that runs forward and reverse to drain as well correct? Does it drain out he thru-hull or do you have a separate drain through the side like an aeration system? I can honestly say I was disappointed when Ben and my dealer told me I couldn't fill the ballast wile driving but while out on the water I have not wished that I could. It sounds like a cool feature but I have not needed it.

Impeller pumps like the Jabsco ballast puppies will usually drain out the thru-hull intake. That's one downside to it, that you can't see if it's empty like the systems that pee out the side.

I guess you could always use a second pump and a separate discharge line, but that kinda defeats the pupose of having a reversible pump and adds a lot of additional cost.
